Welcome to our page, but of course or above all: welcome to Midwifery Practice Breedstraat Utrecht. Our practice is located in the center of Utrecht, where our midwives work in a historic, yet modern building. And that actually stands for who we are. Because although the profession of our midwives is in fact an old profession, we are progressive as a practice and we want to be innovative and complete in the care we offer. Central to this is the care for and the wishes of our clients. This care starts the moment you want to become pregnant and continues until the first weeks after you give birth. In the Netherlands, a midwife is a different professional than a nurse. Being a midwife is being an independent healthcare professional who has full responsibility for the mothers (to be) under her care.
How do we work as a nurse midwife?
What care you receive from a midwife, can be different for everyone. Experienced and driven midwives work at the practice. We focus on caring for you, your child and your partner. All midwives do this by listening to the wishes of you as a client. A midwife is not only the professional who informs you and provides care, but they are also the care provider who enters into a dialogue with you, listens to your wishes and looks together with you at what works for you. In this way we want to be accessible in the care we offer. As midwives we realize that this is a beautiful but also exciting period for you and your partner.
Unique within Utrecht is our own app that we have developed. This app contains everything you and your partner want to know about your pregnancy. It also contains a practical checklist with an overview of everything you need to arrange during your pregnancy. The content of this app is written by our own midwives. The information therefore fits seamlessly with the care we provide as a practice. We emphasize aspects that we know our clients find important. It offers you the opportunity to prepare your appointment well or to read all the information carefully after your check-up. The app also offers you the opportunity to read more about various courses online and nearby and you will find information about the hospitals in Utrecht with which we work on a daily basis. Our colleague doctors, clinical midwifes and nurses help us every day with the birth of new children in Utrecht!
Where can you find us?
Our midwives work at two locations in Utrecht. Our ‘main location’ can be found on Boothstraat, in the center of Utrecht. We have office hours at this location five days a week. We also offer evening consultations at this location. In addition to regular care, the midwives also offer CenteringPregnancy from this location. Also, the midwife makes ultrasounds at this location. For ultrasounds that we do not make ourselves, you can visit our ultrasound center Focus, also located in Utrecht.
Our second location is in Tuindorp. Here we are part of the Prinsenhof Health Center Utrecht. In this way we have short lines with other healthcare providers in Utrecht (such as as general practitioners and nurses). You can easily park your car at this location. Practical if you are less mobile during your pregnancy.
As a pregnant woman in Utrecht, you can visit our midwives from these two locations in the city. If you live just outside Utrecht, in Groenekan or De Bilt, you are also welcome at our practice.
