The birth of a child is a very special event in your life. How do you know that you are under control at the right practice in Utrecht that really suits you? It is important that before the birth of your child you can have confidence in the practice where you are under control.
How do we prepare you for the birth of your child at our practice?
Midwifery practice Breedstraat is located in the center of Utrecht and we have already assisted many parents with the birth of their child. At our practice we work with a permanent team of experienced and registered midwives. We think it is important that the birth of your child takes place in a way that really suits you. At home or in the hospital, you can choose that yourself. During the pregnancy you will receive extensive information from us about the delivery. We have made an information film ourselves that you can watch together. In addition, we inform you in advance how we supervise the birth. That way you know what to expect from us. During a pregnancy course you will also receive a lot of information about what to expect during the delivery. You can then put all the received information and knowledge into your birth wishes document. Towards the end of the pregnancy we will discuss your birth wishes. We ensure that all midwives are well aware of this by adding the document to your file and sharing it within the practice.
Home delivery
You decide where the birth of your child will take place. At our midwifery practice we supervise both home births and hospital births. If you want to give birth at home, it is useful if there is no more than 1 staircase to the room where your baby will be born. If the bedroom is on the second floor in your house, it is also a good option to give birth on the ground floor in the living room. It regularly happens that parents set up a bath in the living room and that the birth of their child takes place here. In Utrecht there are also many people who live in an apartment or, for example, in a place where a car cannot easily reach the door. If you are not sure whether your home is suitable for childbirth, discuss this with one of the certified midwives at our practice.
Hospital delivery
You can also choose to go to a hospital for the birth of your child. We work together with various hospitals in Utrecht (Diakonessenhuis, Antonius hospital, WKZ). It is also possible that during the pregnancy or during the delivery there is a reason for which we will advise you to give birth in a hospital.
If you choose to give birth in hospital and there is no medical indication for this, one of the certified midwives from the midwifery practice will supervise the birth of your baby. When a medical indication arises, the supervision of the birth will be taken over by a midwife or doctor from one of the hospitals.
