Influenza vaccine

The flu season is (unfortunately) coming!

From 15 October 2023 to the 1st of march 2024, the influenza flu vaccination will be offered as part of the national vaccination programme. With the influenza vaccination you reduce the risk of you and your baby getting the influenza flu in the first 3 months after birth.

It is important to read the information carefully. It will help you make an informed choice. You can read all the relevant information onlinehere. The vaccine is available from the 22nd week of the pregnancy, as is the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine. More information about making an appointment for the vaccination at the health centre will follow in the 16-week e-mail you receive from us during your pregnancy. Do you have any questions? You can ask them to the midwife at your check-up, or call during the telephone consultation hour from Monday to Friday between 1.30pm and 2.00 pm at 030 – 231 1376.

If you have a medical indication and have been invited for the flu vaccination via your GP in previous years, you will also be invited via your GP this year. You can then simply make an appointment for the flu vaccination through your GP. The appointment can be made before or after 22 weeks of pregnancy.
